Terms of Service

Terms of Use

Last updated: February 2026

By using BLIP, you agree to these terms. They're short, honest, and written in plain language—just like our code.

01

What BLIP Is

BLIP is a free, open-source, end-to-end encrypted ephemeral chat service. It provides temporary communication channels that are destroyed after use. BLIP is not a messenger, social network, or data storage platform. It's a disposable communication tool.

02

No Accounts Required

BLIP operates without user registration, login credentials, or personal profiles. Access is granted through temporary room links and shared passwords. You are responsible for safeguarding your room passwords—we cannot recover them.

03

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use BLIP for: distributing illegal content, harassment or threats, transmission of malware, automated spam or abuse, or any activity that violates applicable law. While we cannot monitor encrypted content, we reserve the right to restrict access to our infrastructure if abuse is detected at the network level.

04

No Data Recovery

Messages are not stored in any database. Once a chat room is destroyed, all conversation data is permanently and irreversibly lost. This is by design, not a limitation. Do not use BLIP for communications that you need to preserve.

05

Open Source

BLIP's source code is publicly available. You are free to inspect, fork, and contribute to the codebase. The transparency of our code is our strongest guarantee of privacy. You can verify every claim we make.

06

Service Availability

BLIP is provided on an 'as-is' basis. We make no guarantees of uptime, availability, or uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without prior notice.

07

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BLIP and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data (which is the core feature), service interruptions, and unauthorized access to your communications.

08

Intellectual Property

The BLIP name, logo, and brand assets are protected. The service codebase is released under an open-source license. User-generated content in chat rooms belongs to the users—though by design, it ceases to exist after the room is destroyed.

09

Changes & Governing Law

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of BLIP after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Seoul Central District Court.

10

Community

BLIP Community spaces are encrypted group spaces where posts are stored as ciphertext in our database. While we cannot read post content, you agree not to use communities for distributing illegal material, harassment, or any prohibited activity. Posts may be blinded automatically based on community reports. Community administrators can delete posts and destroy communities permanently. Upon receiving a valid legal request, we will delete the encrypted data associated with the specified community—though we cannot provide its decrypted content.

11

Community Administrator Obligations

By creating a Community, you assume the role of administrator and accept full management responsibility. Administrators must: (1) actively monitor and manage their community to prevent illegal content, harassment, spam, and other prohibited activities; (2) promptly respond to user reports and take appropriate action including post deletion or user restriction; (3) securely store the admin token—BLIP cannot recover or reissue lost tokens. If the admin token is lost, you must immediately report it to the BLIP operations team. Upon receiving the report, the community will be closed and the administrator must create a new community to migrate members; (4) comply with all applicable laws regarding user-generated content within their community. BLIP provides encryption and infrastructure only. Since all content is end-to-end encrypted and unreadable by BLIP, the administrator bears sole responsibility for the content and activity within their community. BLIP is not liable for any damages, legal issues, or disputes arising from content posted on administrator-managed communities.
